At this stage in development we equip teenagers to use their unique gifts and abilities to serve others, while at the same time embracing the great commission to reach their world world. We believe every student has been uniquely equipped by God to serve His Kingdom. Our goal is to help each student find their area of passion and giftedness and develop that. From areas like technical production to drama and music and greeting; our LYF teams exists to help students reach another level in their service and missional mind-set. After serving on a ministry team, students are elligible to serve on local short term trips and then go overseas.
Back in April I started to get into Photography, I was going on photography trips all the time! I enjoyed it a lot! But it was all for nothing, there was no reason to my hobby. My passion meant nothing because it was for nothing except myself. I wanted my photography to mean something, I wanted it to be for something so when I was asked to do photography for the LYF center I couldn't refuse!
Serving in the LYF Ministry has been an amazing experience for me. I serve in several ministries at LYF. I am a singer in the LYF band, I serve in the coffee shop, and I co-lead a D_group of 6th grade girls. Singing in the LYF band has been a fun and enriching experience. I have found community and fellowship with the other members of the band. Its cool to connect with people who share the same interest as you and I have many fond memories of rehearsals and times that we have spent together as a band.
I remember when I was coming in as a 6th grader, all energetic and happy. Though it took me a while, I found out I had not been serving God in anyway. I joined the Stage team, but I still felt that I was not doing much. Then I asked my small group leader, Sly, what I could do to serve God in our church. At the time, he was part of the Tech Team, serving in Audio Production. He said I could hang around the sound booth to see if I would like to be on the Tech Team.
